The other major improvement is the new style unit, it is a real upgrade in pre-filter technology. New o-ring plug in pre-filters, easier to change with assured sealing of the filter into the water flow ports.
The New Style Dual Home/Reef is a five stage R.O./D.I. (Reverse Osmosis/De-Ionizing) Reefkeeping system that uses a 50GPD membrane for truly great water quality and production rates.
This model has been designed from the ground up to provide absolutely pure, lab grade R.O./D.I. water for your reef, while at the same time providing you with a constant supply of exceptionally purified R.O. drinking water.
With all of the built in features like the automatic shut off valve, this is truly a "plug-n-play" unit that will provide you with everything you could ever want in a water purification system!
Stage 1) A high capacity, durable, and long lasting sediment filter.Stage 2) An acid washed* carbon block filter that removes up to 99% of chlorine. The carbon filter assures that chemicals and chlorine have been removed providing high quality water and protecting the most expensive part of the unit (The reverse osmosis membrane**) and all of our carbon filters are phosphate free to assure water purity.Stage 3 )A 50GPD Aspring membrane that removes the majority of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) such as arsenic and mercury. The membrane is considered to be 99.9 % effective against bacteria and virus.Stage 4) R.O. Side -- A 10" in-line carbon filter for further purity.Stage 5) D.I. Side -- A FULL SIZED D.I. filter that removes the remaining TDS left behind by the R.O. membrane, thus resulting in the purest water possible. This filter is used in the up-flow mode, not horizontal as are most D.I. added systems.
